"CHALLENGE TO ENTER THE CHAPEL"
CHAPEL PERILOUS hath appeared, and
if you look, you'll find the path to
the first Cupbearer's tree, although
the elderly fellow has grown wiser.
Knights upon a Holy Quest lingered
'ere entering CHAPEL PERILOUS, where
all were forbidden to leave the same
way they came.
Ponder well its riddles to exit by
the only portal...
Mysteries hidden at the foundation
of the world....Sacred whisperings
in windowless chambers....Enigmas,
perplexities and veiled visions of
forgotten legend....A glimpsing by
flickering fires of vanished Ages,
voices fainting from Frankincensed
halls hallowed by the oaken echoes
of closing doors chased shut in an
iridescent dazzle of glazed colors
cast by dying suns...
Dare ye enter CHAPEL PERILOUS?
Listen...They are building chilled
stone flanks, dripping of moss...The
ancient battlements are rising again
over silent thickets of pentacles by
whose myrrh made royal the Aspirant.
Ah! Watch there! He comes...
The Dragon stirs. Is that someone
on the path? Yes!
A sliver of light streaks from the
door... The eyes of the Dragon slide
open...
Too late to hide! He has seen you!
You must do battle. Have you armour?
Draw your sword! Advance!
"Step aside!" a voice calls out on
your left. "Quickly! Hide in here!"
"Where? Where are you?" you ask.
"I'm close by you, if only you had
eyes to see!" the old man replies.
"Show me!"
"That helmet has muffled your ears
and chained your thinking; you could
do better with a bigger visor!"
"You're no help at all!"
"Nonsense! You're not even trying
to find me!"
"Why don't you just show yourself?"
"What would be the fun in that? In
my day people enjoyed a good riddle."
"Well, I don't have time to solve
riddles."
"Really? I would have thought that
was the very reason you were here."
"Just tell me how to find you!"
"I already have."
"Everything you say is a riddle."
"Riddliculous!"
